On 13 October 2026, the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg Danube Region Programme 2021-2027 approved projects under the third call for standard projects. A total of 19 projects were selected for funding and will receive €29.9 million in EU funding.
The Interreg Danube Region Programme promotes cooperation between institutions from nine European Union Member States (Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Germany) and five candidate countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Moldova, Serbia and Ukraine).
The third call focused on addressing shared challenges in skills development, renewable energy sources, climate change adaptation, water management, the labour market, education, and good governance through cooperation.
Slovenian institutions will participate in 15 of the approved projects, with 21 Slovenian project partners or associated partners involved. They have secured €3.2 million in EU funding for project implementation. Slovenian organisations will take on the role of lead partner in four of these projects.
